Folks - I met a guy last week who has a place on the 2010 Etape. He's reasonably fit, from a mountaineering background, never done a cycling event like this before.
He's keen for any tips advice on training, prep and the day itself. I was able to tell him a little based on my experience of getting ready to do Ventoux but this is waaay bigger than that. He's currently doing a steady Sunday morning ride with a few mates. I believe time is at a premium, I suggested the dreaded turbo trainer and also that flogging himself up and down Ditchling a few times might be a laugh.
Any useful suggestions most welcome, thanks in advance
