J Anquetil at my work

Postby Marek » Wed Sep 23, 2009 8:00 pm

Today at work, I find out that the guy who is moving over to work for me on some mundane task is a chap by the name of Jason Anquetil. Well, I see his name and am like, maybe, just maybe this guy is the ancestor of the great Jacques. On our initial meeting I threw into the conversation that was he aware of the famous heritage of his name in cycling circles. He said yes and that Jacques Anquetil is in fact a distant relative. I nearly fell off my chair, I explained did he not know the significance of this and does he do any cycling, he shrugged his shoulders and said he just plays a bit of rugby, which kinda explained the two black eyes he was sporting.

I will investigate further when I get the chance and see if I can get him to work out his blood lines and how closely related he is. How cool though to be working alongside a J. Anquetil.

Cheers

He must be pretty old if he's an ancestor of Jacques'.

[quote="Sean Hogan"]Wasn't Jacques a bit of a lad?

What makes you say that?

Seduced and married his doctor's wife, had a child with his wife's stepdaughter, lived with this family threesome for 12 years until it broke up (can't think why that happened), then had another child with his stepson's ex-wife.

Marek, if he doesn't have champagne for breakfast he's not a proper Anquetil.

Old pointy toes is a true legend and time trialling God.

By the sounds of all that I think it could be quite hard to find out where this guys heritage comes from.

Cheers

I work with the 2009 CTT national 24 hour time trial champion.

We have a Simpson, a Roche and a Miller, but then probably so do a lot of other offices.
