Enter the ACC photo competition 2010 - Trophy to be won

Postby Andrew G » Mon Oct 25, 2010 8:56 am

Send in your photos and you might be collecting the trophy for best photo at the club dinner!

There are 7 categories:
person (male);
person (female);
action;
landscape;
building;
humorous;
Miscellaneous.

The only rules being that photos should not have been entered in this competition in previous years and should not have won an award elsewhere.

In the first round of judging, the top one or two entries from each category (depending on number of entries and ability to whittle them down) will be chosen and then at the club dinner a voting slip will be provided for each person attending to vote for their favourite photo so that the overall winner will not be known until the votes are in and counted. The photos will also be shown on the big screen at the dinner to help with your decision making.

Send in your entries by email to Andrew Green - andrewgreen 23 at btinternet dot com - remove the spaces and replace the at and dot with the relevant symbols. Please send jpg files for ease and convenience, multi-layered psd files can be a bit bit :) .

Closing date 31st December.

Thank you.

Andrew
Could you please elaborate on the categories.
Does the building category mean any building or must the snap involve bikes :?

I didn't come up with the categories but I'd say that photos do not have to include bikes so as to keep it as open as possible, otherwise it'll narrow things down too much. Action caters for racing shots and other actegories can include them if you like but not required.

:lol: Don't know who you could be thinking of. What makes you think your photos won't be better?

Nope, photos don't have to have a bike in them - just so long as it's a photo by a club member 8)

Won't be any professional photographers judging them - well, maybe one or two but the final vote will be by the Addiscombe CC diners :D

First round judges are the committee.
2 photos per category per person.
jpegs please, image size isn't too important as they'll be displayed on a screen so don't need to be a high res image although if you have a higher res it would be better - please don't send me massive RAW files though.

I've done the first step, go through my pics from this past year and select a few :)

Will send them before deadline Andrew :wink: but there are still a few weeks to take some building and landscape ones ..

Thanks Sylv.

PLEASE ENTER FOLKS. This is a competition for every single club member and any one of you could win a trophy at the club dinner.

So far entries are very, very low. Please give us something to look at on the projector at the club dinner.

Mailbox should be okay Sean but best if you send each picture in a different email, ta.

Min size...72dpi should be okay if the dimensions are big (the way a lot of cameras take the shots), otherwise a higher res is better, as they are to be displayed on a screen so hi-res not really required for printing. Small pictures on a cue sheet on the tables but will be 6-8 per A4 sheet just to give an idea as proper pictures will be on the screen, so the small file size should still be okay.

Hopefully this allows it to be more open to any level of camera.

Or you could just upload the big files on your flickr and send the links to Andrew, who could then download them.
