JBS Road Race 9th April - HELPERS REQUIRED

Postby Andrew G » Thu Jan 06, 2011 7:56 pm

Message from Paul:

Our Road Race this year will be once again be run on the Bletchingley circuit, using Bletchingley Community Hall (the smaller one at the front).

I have confirmed the booking for the hall.
There are a number of willing volunteers required, marshalls, canteen, lead/support car drivers etc.
Last year I was short on helpers until the day of the event when more than enough turned out - which is great in itself, but does not help the stress levels, not knowing if we would be able to run the event or not - I was close to having to call it off last year.

Please please please sign up in advance.
There are a variety of roles, and if you've done something before, why not try something different?
I have once again booked a nice sunny day and first come, first served for marshalling duties outside the pub !!!!
I haven't heard yet if we will have the services of the NEG, but they did make pulling out into the main road a whole lot easier.

Many thanks
Regards
Paul

Yes, looks like I (and maybe Tom) are available to help. How do you bag the marshall point by the pub?

Bagsy help Phil at the pub. As Rob's gone to Oz we're already a man down at that vital spot.

Happy to help out (I'll drop Paul an email in a sec). However, never marshalled at a cycling event before, so don't give me anything too responsible! That aside, happy to stand and point the way, make tea, pick up rubbish, lug things around, etc.

You could always help George and push him up the hills

Is that because he needs slowing down? If so dragging 90 kilos could do the trick - even then, given what I've heard - it won't make much difference.

Hiya
Have all marshals been confirmed? I volunteered to help but have not heard if I’m needed so need to know whether to plan to be there or not.
Thanks

Paul says he hopes to get something out to all the helpers at the end of the week.
