Update on Sportive

Postby Alan M » Mon Jan 31, 2011 3:51 pm

At last we have broken 62 entrants to the sportive! 338 still available. Recently we have been able to target som South London and Surrey Cycle clubs with information and also reliability rides. Dudley Samuels at Luciano cycles has kindly canvassed his 1250 database and will load leaflets into his Spring Onion event participant pack. Huw and Monty have had 2000 flyers printed. However we still need more places to distribute info, like other events, clubs and word of mouth. Thanks for all those who have helped so far and I am grateful for any further offers.

Cheers

Alan

Yes George. My body is a temple and those like yourself are justifiably consumed in awe and wonder

86 riders at Old Ports - organiser kindly gave out flyers to them as they finished and I nuisanced myself by sticking one under every car wiper. Most people were already aware of it even though they haven't signed up yet - so that suggests the PR is at least noticeable. I spoke to one group of 6 who said they'd seen it advertised and are definitely signing up. Bottom line is there are a lot of riders aware of it who haven't signed up yet so as long as we keep pushing it I think numbers should grow

I'm sure you'll get the numbers Alan, I suspect a fair amount of people haven't booked holidays yet and won't sign up until they have and know they don't have a date clash.

Many hanks, very reassuring. Have a good week. Rode up a mountain today to 9000 feet then free fell down it again, followed by lunch, beers and siesta. Hey ho!

A message to Huw - I have sent a couple of PMs to arrange to collect flyers from you - as I haven't heard back I'm guessing that there is a problem with them getting through. I will be in London on Thursday 17th if that works for you. Regards. Paul B.

Just seen this week's CW. Usual 20-page sportive guide but ours isn't mentioned under June 5th. Surely that would have been an ideal place to have it featured, particularly as Dragon is marked as sold out and people might be looking for alternatives.
