Hi Carl

Not sure if many people do the Triathlon, Duathlon thing in ACC any more. There used to be a fair few so probably a few hiding somewhere. If you want to train with some like minded people then you could try and contact Chris Scarlett or Jim B. They are both into Triathlon I believe. They ride for TSN, which I think stands for Tri Sport News. I think they have a website so you could check them out. They tend to come out with the ACC lot now and then as they are all based in the local area.

There may be others out there in the club doing the duathlon/triathlon thing but I don't know who anymore as stopped running about 2.5 years ago.

Cheers

Yes, time trialling is rife so don't worry, you will hear plenty about TTing on the forum and when you are out and about. I have been tempted to do the ballbuster again, I did this a few years ago, but I just need to motivate myself to start running again.

No doubt will see you out and about.

Cheers

Hi Carl welcome to the club,

Quite a few club memebers time trial at all levels. The club evening 10s this year (Jon Hemming is the man to let know if you want to do any of them and they are nice and informal) are:
[quote]Dates, times & courses for the club time trials are:

Tuesday 29th May 19:30 G10/42 Holmwood
Tuesday 12th June 19:30 G10/42
Tuesday 26th June 19:30 G10/42
Tuesday 10th July (Interclub vs NP) 19:30 GS/335 Bletchingley
Tuesday 24th July 19:30 G10/42
Saturday 15th September (President's 10) 10:00 G10/42
Saturday 29th September (Hillclimb) 10:00 GH/41 Ranmore

A lot of members seem to like riding up steep hills all day (not me :) ) so their are a few out for most sportives in the UK.

[quote="marco"] also look out for timetrials organised by CDCA - the local croydon and district cycling organisation - they are a good place to have a go at time trialling too. Theres one soon , jon hemming will probably have details of it on the forum soon

Do keep up Marco, CDCA was disbanded last year.

Unfortunately they don't happen anymore.

The CDCA Hilly 21 is now being run as the SCCU Hardriders. If anyone wants to ride a top local event they need to get their entries off today.

The Ballbuster was my first ever multisport event, after that you can do anything. It is hard, but extremely satisfying when you finish. It is quite amusing looking at the differential between your first 8 mile run and your second one. There is likely to be quite a big difference.

My result was as follows:

140th Siwicki, Marek Run 0:56:04 Bike 1:32:43 Run 1:09:50 3:38:37

So I came well down the list, my bike leg was not very good, I had only been cycling for a few months prior to this event which was way back in 2002, how time flys. The other ACC rider who is now a pro came second on the day, he gives you something to aim for, his times are below:

2nd Bayliss, Stephen Run 0:44:17 Bike 1:11:48 Run 0:51:06 2:47:11

Go for it, great fun and they give you a nice jumper in the entrance fee which I treasure and wear out when I want to impress people. (not really).

Cheers

Newbie too

Postby neilb » Wed Mar 07, 2007 12:25 am

Hi Everyone

I'm new to the club too and also a friend of Carl's. I too ventured out for my first ACC ride a week ago. Thanks very much for making me feel welcome, I really enjoyed it.

I'm a slower cyclist and runner than Carl but I can swim ok (yep another triathlete, sorry).

I too am up for Time Trials this year and have also entered the British Cyclosportive on 1st July. Am really into cycling although I'm not great at it.

Any suggestions that will help me to cycle quicker greatly appreciated!

Hope to see you a week on Sat (I too will be at the duathlon this weekend, cheering not competing this time).

Carl,
There are quite a few South London Harriers Tri Club members who are now joining ACC.
The SLH have a clubhouse in Coulsdon and have coached running sessions Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We have swimming coaching Monday and Friday at Caterham school.
I joined them when I first started triathlon and their coaching has helped me no end.
The website is http://www.southlondonharriers.org.
You might have seen Andy Collins at Clumber park this weekend - he's a veteran fire fighter world champion at long course triathlon as well as an ACC member.
I'd be more than happy to introduce you if you want.
