Have you had your first post season cold yet?

I managed to get rid of the bug[ger] in a couple of days with good old Lemsip. Unfortunately the stupid cold has left me with a rasping sore throat which I can't shake off

keep up the lemsip but add a spoonfull of honey

better still - ditch the lemsip and go for juice of half a fresh lemon, spoonfool of honey topped up in a mug with hot water - twice in the evenings - second time just half an hour before bed

You forgot the whiskey, for a proper hot toddy.

I felt a bit "bunged up" today - that horrible can't breathe syndrome, because nothing seems to clear the airway, but otherwise feel fine

I had one last week. Bunged up sinuses on Tuesday to Thursday, then the cough startged on Friday. I thought about not riding on Saturday afternoon, but felt a bit better on Saturday morning, so decided to turn up and see how long I could hang on to the B race  . The symptoms seemed to disappear from about 2pm, except for a "raspy" chest when chasing down the breakaway before the first prime.

The cough was back with a vengeance for the journey home, though.

It is still niggling away in the background and the sinuses still feel a bit "full" in the morning.

Vit C with zinc from Holland & Barratt. Suck one am and one pm for a few days when a cold starts building.

If you make a 'hot toddy' with whiskey instead of whisky, what's it called?

And when does a post-season cold become a pre-season cold?

"A Pedant's Delight"? :)
I'm sure the medicinal benefit would be the same whether you used Irish whiskey or Scottish whisky.

Ignore these fools Toks

What started out as a thread on how to treat a sore throat has become a thread on how to get pi**ed

With the thread now spiralling out of control anyway, it may be appropriate to chip in with the unhelpful information that I've never had a cold. Ever.

"I've never had a cold. Ever"

Like Damien in Omen?
Like Claire Benett in Heroes?
Like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable?

Its not natural I tell you

I'd have thought saying Scotch for a Scottish anything was asking for a beating. As in Scottish whisky is known as Scotch, not Scotch whisky.

I shall consult the bottle later.
