alternative 17s and a note of a road closure on the CR

Postby Amy » Sat Aug 30, 2008 7:21 pm

After an awful club run today - roadworks, traffic lights and traffic jams (and I think Robbie Dread managed to make it worse by falling off right in front of the line of traffic just about to move through Hooley - I have arranged with Graham B to lead an alternative club run to Charlwood :D

Please let me know if anyone else is interested 8)

I noticed on the way back today that the road north from Meath Green to Lodge Lane is due to close from 1 September for four weeks for resurfacing. It may be passable to bikes but the last time they resurfaced that road (the other side of Lodge Lane towards Reigate)it was more for cyclocross or mountain bikes - or nobody worried about chipping their paintwork

It gives me a chance to try out a variation of my route but, of couse, will mean that the usual club run will need a rethink :?

Just a reminder of both of the above.

Have confirmation of the roadworks http://www1.surreycc.gov.uk/highways/template3.cfm?id=3848&district=Reigate%20and%20Banstead&town=Horley&roadName=MEATH%20GREEN%20LANE&roadNo=D334

And here's where it is http://www.multimap.com/s/joP82Wj1 north of Horley

I realised I'd forgotten to finish a sentence in my previous post
sounds good amy :?

So what's with the confused icon?? Hope you are out on the run this Saturday - I can't tie in your forum name with who you are in actuality - and you have said some very nice things about my route suggestions and revamped code of conduct :D

And thank you, Graham, for your endorsement - I'm afraid there's no commission for encouraging more riders to join us though maybe I'll buy you a cup of tea at the cafe :D

Ian turned up for the Evening 10s this year sporting a fantastic TT helmet, it had an airbrushed (I think) design of a sloth on it :D .
