Freewheel Competition - 17th January

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Tue Jan 06, 2009 9:40 am

This is the one you've all been waiting for......

at least those of us that find climbing hills a challenge

When?
Saturday 17th January (same day as the club dinner) from 10:30am - 11:00am

Where?

From the top of Russ Hill (near the hotel) to as far as you can get along the bottom.

How does it work?
One crank will be securely fastened to the seatstay (if you have a toestrap or similar, please bring it along otherwise a zip tie will be supplied). You will be held up at the top of the hill, and released, allowing gravity to take it's course and build up speed down the hill until you slow to a stop and keel over :D when your position will be marker with a piece of chalk. The rider that goes the furthest wins - my decision is final!! (£1 entry fee for some prize money)

I suggest that you come along before going on to the cafe. (Any volunteer to mark riders at the bottom?)

You ought to try it Jon....and we'll all watch

It used to be "de rigeur" to ride out to the freewheel contest on a fixed wheel, and then remove the chain - less drag than that of a freewheel (oh no I'm giving away my secret now!!!!)

and the bag with a couple of bricks in it

Can you bounce this next week please as I have a woeful memory.

He he - if you wait to ask Monty then based on my recent experiences of club run departure times I predict you'll get there around midday

Is that the hotel venue of the diner? Or somewhere along the clubrun?

Let me know and I'll start removing oil and seals in all my bearings.

I think you should also specify whether TT equipment is ok - it's not all about weight but also aerodynamics :D

Oh and also if the tUnnelCI will disallow "superman" type positions ...
