Well hopefully :)

As there's been loads of interest for the return of the night rides recently, why not try kick off things with one next Monday in what should be challenging but fun conditions;

Will be a 11-mile loop starting from East Croydon station at 7.30pm.

You'll need good lights (not just small LEDs), I have one spare set to lend

Don't worry there's very little road, and fresh snow is very grippy with mtb tires

Let me know if you're coming; I'll also send an email around

If there's enough snow we can secretly ride on a golf course or two ..

I like the sound of this but will have to look into the light situation first.

I won't be able to say Yay or Nay until Monday though.

Cheers MM

I'm thinking I might commute on my MTB on Monday if the forecast comes true. Out of interest roughly how much longer does it take to do a Croydon to London commute on a MTB with knobbly tyres on (although I might pump them up a bit harder than 30psi).

I'd like to join you for this night ride Sylv but I'm not sure how I'll be timewise getting home and/or to EC. If it looks like I can make it I'll let you know in good time.

Cheers,

A.

Dunno if this helps Mr  but my 14 mile commute takes about 53 min on road bike with hammer down. Takes about 1.06 on mtb w skinny tyres.

oh, sounds tempting, something new. But this weekend I was planning to just start building up my new MTB, don't know if a night time ride is the best testing ground for a first ride? Oh , I have lumicycle lights - but not the enduro battery pack so how long would the ride last?

We can meet at 8pm if it helps, it's actually better for me, 7.30pm was the very earliest I can make.

The loop takes about 1h30 altogether (sans neige)

Sounds great to me, count me in. I have a spare Cateye Single-shot light if anyone needs it.

My daily 12 minute commute just took me a little over an hour. We measured 13 inches in the garden, almost deep enough to cover my hubs.

I found riding very difficult in so much snow, and on the roads wasnt much better. I dont think ill be riding tonight if its still like this. 4 inches would be perfect, but not 14!

Well having just been out in it, it is so deep it's really hard work. Good fun though :D . Where are you thinking you might be going as I can't see me getting to East Croydon Station at night in this as it'd take ages getting up and down the hill in the way. If you are heading towards Shirley Hills or anywhere towards my side of Croydon then I'll try and meet you somewhere.

If I miss you I'm sure I'll still have a bit of fun.
