Bike damaged at the cafe.

Well I can honestly say I'm a litle pissed off right now. Some clumsy so and so at the cafe has given my bike a right good bang, pushing over my right hand brake lever, scuffing my bar tape and losing my bar end cap. I thought it felt odd leaving the cafe and had to straighten up the lever on the way home. Nice of who ever did it to step forward and own up, thanks for nothing.

Perhaps if you read this you'll have the decency to at least apologise.

. I've had a bike receive the odd knock at the cafe on the past and not been best pleased either. Lots of money spent on bikes so a bit of care wouldn't go amiss when removing yours, even if the group is just leaving and you're keen to get away.

I can't imagine any of it is malicious and just accidental, with that many bikes piled up it's easy for the odd pedal to go between spokes or hook a chain, but please be careful. The last one I had someone had obviously caught a pedal in my chain, pulled it off the chainring and knocked the rear derailleur a bit so that I had to re-index it when I got home.

Maybe you did it yourself when you were gripping your handlebars so hard in the sprint. I think I have got a fair few spare bar end caps in the shed, I'll try to remember to put one in my saddle bag for you for next weekend at Kirdford, you are doing it right?

Maybe the person who done the dirty deed is not a user of the forum or they didn't know the bike was damaged.

I hope you don't mind, but on your behalf I have contacted the cafe this morning and she is going to look back over the CCTV footage from the camera out front for you, I have left her my number to ring me back this afternoon.

So there is still time to own up out there.

Marky Mark, I would not recommend this, my wife works for the met as a forsenic specialist in digital imagery and getting proper evidence from CCTV footage is not easy even for experts. If the person identified disputes this evidence what then? How can you prove that the bike was damaged in the fall? etc.

Irritating though it is that someone behaved like a numpty and damaged somone else's pride and joy, given the apparently minor damage involved....I think it best to move on.

Alternatively, maybe everyone who was at the cafe last weekend should have a detention. Everyone has to go to the clubroom on Wednesday night and sit in silence facing the wall. For 3hrs.... One of the captains can pace round and lecture everyone about honesty, integrity and how everyone has to suffer because of the actions of one individual. And heaven help anyone who starts smirking.....
