Absolute bo!!ocks. One of the worst results that could have happened.

That said, fair play for even making it to the finish, only about 45 of 166 starters made it, I was not one of them.

Did you see they raced the French champs without radios :D

Also, a mountain biker is TT champ - Jean-Christophe Péraud. I never heard he'd done a TT before! But he got mtb silver at Beijing. One of the biggest engines in France I had read recently (article said "he has a power of 450w (70kg)" (even though this doesn't really mean anything).

How old is Peter Kennaugh? He looks about 14 here.

Two things, House is not really British, and, he's a domestic based rider. The jersey should be on the shoulders of a Continental pro.

Kennaugh is 20.

My race was indifferent. I was held up behind a crash momentarily after 60km, I was in the convoy, but just couldn't get back on the bunch as the roads were by no means flat at that point. I rode the rest of the course back to Abergavenny, where I was too late to be allowed onto the finish circuits, as were the majority. Considering I had ridden the last 50km pretty much on my own (including the vicious climb of the Tumble), I was only 16 minutes down. Like I said before, I was by far from the only rider excluded from the finish circuit.

I'll write a proper report tomorrow.

Agree with that. It would be great to see, for example, Cavendish winning races at the highest level in the British champion's jersey.

I also think it was a pity that Nicole Cooke won the women's championship again; the British jersey won't get seen on her shoulders for most of the season because she's wearing the rainbow jersey.

Isn't it historically the case that the home based pros ride against the continental based pros

Adam might be able to shed some light on this.

Even so, well done Adam, for being there, I look foward to your report.

Roll on next year if you are in the country 8)

Ever heard him speak Sean?

Besides, who you are is more to do with your upbringing anyway... :P

Dominic, you are right. Traditionally, there has been a them against us attitude between the domestic ''pros'' and the continental pros, however, currently it seems more like 'Us v Cav'. He rode his little socks off in the chase group, and from what I could see, had no allies, unsuprisingly.

I would have been equally dismayed had Froome won, he's Kenyan afterall! My favourite right from the word go, was Lloyd. He's local to me/us, and I see him out from time to time. He deserves it perhaps more than anyone. 2nd in '07, 4th last year, 2nd again this year, maybe next year? That said, it would be cool for Kennaugh to win too. I was lining up next to him at the start, he is one major talent let me tell you. If I ever make it, it will be at the service of someone like him!

He's a Yank!! If he was a proper pro, I wouldn't mind so much, but still, like I said, the jersey should be on continental shoulders!

I think it was a bit of a wierd result...he's not done much and seems to be just domestique in a national level team...

From the report posted under racing, it seems like he just sat in and watch wiggins \ frome etc kill themsleves throughout the race, then got into a break with young kennaugh and again, just sat in, riding for his tea mates....

Was his win just luck, or did he ride quite a clever race ?

At the end of the day though, it must have been a hard race, and he got across the line first...so deserves to be champ..presumably he's a british national (in the same way that frome is !!!)

Which of the five continents would you prefer? America, where "Yanks" come from, was one last time I checked.

You know what I mean.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]There seems to be a lot of hostility to his victory. Shame.

If he wasn't a Rapha rider, would you have cared he won? Besides, I suppose I'd rather he won that Downing...
