Ride to Brighton

Postby Graham O » Mon Jul 13, 2009 12:02 pm

All,

Myself and Sean are planning a ride to Brighton on Saturday 18 July with a couple of chaps from work. We'll be heading down via ashdown forest and returning the usual way up over devils dyke. I reckon it will be approx 120 miles or so all in.

We'll be meeting at 08.00 at GB's. Anyone out there interested in tagging along..

Pace will be very steady as its will be a long day...

Ta,

Graham..

Enjoy the ride dudes.

Mrs Snoop, me and a bunch of mates will be in the 8 bells in Bolney celebrating 17 years of happy marriage. It's en route if you fancy a pint of Harvey's

Coincedentally, theres about 40 people from LFGSS.co.uk (london fixed gear + singlespeed) going down that day aswell, but they will be setting off a little later than you.. in fact you might only see them when you are coming back if they choose to pub crawl it!

hmmm.. id quite like to see someone do the last descent to brighton fixed with no brakes :D

As sean says...a crackin day in the saddle. Brighton and Back via Ashdown forest. Before we left, I kinda felt that we might be pushing it a bit by heading over ashdown forest but the route was really good. I love climbing up to the top of ashdown forest as the views at the top are amazing. Anyhow, once we left there we headed through some really beautiful lanes towards lewes. The lanes were luckily quite sheltered from what was quite a tricky crosswind.

Anyhow, once we had negociated the road from lewes to the bottom of the beacon and climbed over the hill it was plain sailing into brighton.

The route back was aided by a south westerly wind which helped us along. At one point we were cruising at 30 mph just spinning the gears on the flat...cool...

I gotta say that sean has come on in leaps and bounds. Once we got onto the club run route, he was ticking out 20 - 25 miles per hour on the front with no issues.....keep it up sean...

I felt quite good on this ride. I ate quite regularly, drank loads and span the gears all day.

Good stuff...thanks to all.....can't wait for the next adventure...
