I'm still keen on coming but it is dependent on a work project, so will have to decide a bit nearer the time.

I've booked my flights now, and will be joined after the weekend by The Good MrsI and Little MissI.

Is anyone else getting the early flight on the 1st?

We'll get an apartment from the 6th, but if anyone's interested in sharing up to then, drop me a pm.

I've been sneakin round looking at flights - can't seem to find anything much less than £300 per person  . Haven't spoken to la famille yet but if we were to go would have to wait for skool to break up. Guess that's the main reason for such a big price hike. Will keep looking but if I can't get the prices down a lot it'll be a no go. Thought I'd just mention this so other dilly dallyers might want to have a look and sort something out...

Does the family Snoop only travel 1st class?

Just looked at Easyjet. Gatwick to Majorca (Palma), Out 1st April, home 7th April, 1 hold bag plus 1 bicycle, £103.

BA also operate the same route.

Flights on the 4th and 5th are expensive, but they get cheaper again on Monday 6th. Years of being a tightwad have taught me that it is always cheapest to fly on a Tuesday.

[This does not constitute financial advice.]

Having been on the official list as going I thought I'd actually better make a booking so am now down to go out on 31 March and back 7 April (not only cheaper flights but general getting to the airport at times when I can use public transport).

Looks like using me as bait to encourage a non-training group didn't work so I'll work at hanging on to a group for as long as possible and then drop off and do my own thing. Hoping that the conversation will also be alleviated in the evenings from sprockety and training subjects by some not-so-into-it fellow beings.

Anyway, hoping that a week's worth of steady riding will boost my strength and stamina and give me something to work on when I get back - I know, eternally optimistic and nearly always disappointed.

Just got to sort out my passport - I can't find it ...

Boo!

We can talk about girly things Amy, though you have the upper hand with me on the shoe front.

Thanks for rubbing it in, everybody.

As for being girly, I was just never into girly things as a girl, so now that I'm grown up I have a kind of fascination with things like make-up and nice shoes and clothes. I was more of a tomboy growing up and even now, I'd rather go rockpooling than lie on a beach (booooorrrrrrinnnng  ). I might see if there's any places of interest - the caves on the island are pretty cool - that I want to visit (by bike of course) and maybe another day in Palma to see the sights there. There is a prehistoric village I want to visit but it's too far away being down in the south of the island. People are welcome to join me and enjoy looking at the architecture, history and wildlife of Mallorca as well as getting the miles in and stopping at cafes now and again.

I've never been there before but don't intend to look at tarmac all the time. I do intend to do a lot of cycling and get quite a lot of miles in but I don't really do training as such, there seems to be quite a few of us going as well so I'd be surprised if everyone was setting off for the same "club run" all the time. One of the things I really enjoyed in Italy last year was long (6-8 hour) rides punctuated with a couple of cafe stops at interesting and scenic places. I found it a good way to do all the long cycling rides I wanted, at a reasonable "steady" pace so not just mooching about but not at a "training" pace either, and still see places. Anyone thinking along these lines or is it a training camp for most?

I've no idea what other people's plans are (if they have any) - harder morning ride and then chill or sight see in the afternoon, or all day rides, or whatever. Any thoughts folks?

If those that have been before can chuck a few nice places up in the air then I can have a bit of a shufty at what's where on a map and what's got link up possibilities.

If Huw is doing some proper coaching of his gang then it may not suit, or he may not want, too many others involved in certain things anyway.

BTW what sort of temperature is it when we'll be there on average? Is it good but reasonable all day or is there a hot patch that should be avoided in the day for those of a less swarthy complexion?

Oh and for shoes I find Specialized very comfy, mine are silver.
