It was great fun, actually made even more 'fun' by the weather! (To simulate the conditions on the course all you need to do is stick your bike + turbo in the bath in 5 inches of water, turn the power shower on full blast and aim directly into your face!. Big thanks to Keith and Jayne, and thanks to the other riders for the hard workout. Would have loved to chatted to you all at greater length but the rain dictated a swift return to Aldershot station. As I've never raced, I really appreciated being put into race situatons, allbeit 'friendly' race situations.
Suggestions for next time:
1. More people.
2. No rain (therefore no power slides through the corners)
3. A pair of wheels for Simon that last more that an hour.
4. A beer afterwards

Big thanks to Jane for coaching us through a good session, the benefits of which I am already feeling. There is no way I would have done that kind of quality work at the weekend on my own, even if the weather had been good. Given the rain, I would have just stayed in and got fatter.

Thanks also to Dom and David for an excellent three-up in the heavy rain during the scratch race at the end - both excellent wheels to follow. We nearly stayed away from the Knight monster.

Weather permitting, I am seriously thinking about doing the 4th cat race at Chertsey MOD on Saturday at 10am. I am sure you would both enjoy it too, if you were interested. The same goes for all the road race novices I saw at Eelmore. I think that Chertsey MOD is a smashing circuit to get started on. And I just saw an email from Paul Tunnell, saying that two ACC riders are already entered for the 4ths race that day. It's worth thinking about anyway.

Best place to get details of surrey league races for the next week is on the hotline 020 8645 9906, (a recorded message giving details and directions usually although the directions can be somewhat hit or miss) for future races a calendar is on the website http://www.surreyleague.co.uk/ .

I'm planning on going to Chertsey on Saturday and have space in my car. If anyone wants a lift drop me an e-mail viney@12kbw.co.uk . I will be coming back straight after the 4th Cat race so I won't be staying to watch the big boys.

Usually either about 1 hour to 1.5hours. Last year the 4th cats at Chertsey were about 1 hour and I guess it will be the same this year as they will want the 4th cat race off the circuit before the others start at 11.30.
