I think I know the guy you mean, Marco, I seen him at the bar, all smiles, throwing his arms about and singing his heart out. Gets a bit narky if you confront him though. The other day he took exception to this italian bloke who was talking about some lessons he had with flash guys driving instructor. Flash guy had a word with the bar man and had him thrown out, I think he must be well connected.

Like you say, I've seen him stagger to the car a few times but can never be sure whether he drinks or not, I've never actually seen him drink beer, it looks like fruit juice, but you can't tell from a distance.

Mind you, a few of his old mates have been put away for drink driving when they moved to the next town. It's all a bit fishy if you ask me.

I think Lance's wins were in an era where very few rode clean. You can argue whether the top riders are riding clean today or not but he's in a no win situation.

I think the problem with LA is that everyone wants to see him fail because of his personality. He's like Marmite. Personally, I don't like him. I think he's brash and arrogant and full of himself.
He is an exceptional talent. You can't take that away from him. PEDs or not, he's a great cyclist.
The problem is that cycling's trying to go through a change and Lance is a rider caught between 2 eras of cycling.
What should he do?
Admit to taking PEDs (if he did as is being alledged) and undermine all he's achieved?
Continue to deny it, play out the next couple of years and move into other areas of life and use his cycling fame as a base to greater things.

Going back to the drink driving theme. In the 60's and 70's, drink driving was more socially acceptable.
So your old school drink driver gets a job as the police chief. What has he got to gain from admitting his mistakes in an era when to many, it was an acceptable way of life?
