I know of a pearsons touche for sale with a sturmey archer 3 gears fixed wheel - may fit you simon but probably near £500. like this http://www.pearsoncycles.co.uk/store/product/29718/Pearson-Touch%C3%A9-Gunmetal-480mm/ but the special wheel setup cost another £300
I've got a Bianchi Pista to get shot of 55 bullhorn bars carbon aero levers chrome aero forks Not the dodgy ones that come with the bike White deep rim wheels chrome chainring all new Rear brake ( sorry Andrew i ride to London every day and would be a nutter without serious stopping power) Also been over the top more times than i care to admit so front brake aint enough And as far as fixed only is concerned ever hit the kerb?
You probably get the picture built this up but too flash for me So only ridden twice
I know what you're saying Steve and it comes down to what you're comfortable with to use.
As a rule riding fixed with a front brake only shouldn't be a problem though unless you are a very big rider as you have breaking at the back through your legs, traffic shouldn't be an issue. Bottom brackets are higher on fixed and you can actually lean them over quite a bit before grounding a pedal.
I think a lot boils down to confidence and mainly people ride differently when riding fixed, worrying about braking, not being able to freewheel etc. Personally I find it feels very natural but if it doesn't suit you then it doesn't suit you.
Thanks for all the response on this... so just to be clear is the consensus to buy the Argos bike or not? Looks like I'm sorted with a Specilized Langster through my cycle to work scheme.
