Looking at the pros' bike on LCS I notice how high and close people have their STI levers and I'm thinking that might be the solution to my problem of feeling too stretched. I got mine as close as I could on my ergonomic bars but they are still way further from reach than say on this bike:

Does anyone have a similar experience of going from classic to ergo bars and having a problem fitting their STIs the same way? Also I think the drops are further down on ergos and this makes it harder to reach for them.

Actually this guy has his bars tilted a long way backwards which explains why the STIs are sitting so high. I'll give that a go but it will make reaching to the drops even harder ...

i have a similar set up..perfect for sprinting!!! and resting on the stis with your forearms on the bars...try it.....very comfy!!

Ergo bars are pants!
Get yourself a pair of Deda Newton 'shallow' bars..... they're the old school style with no flat bit, just smooth rounded bars perfect for sprinting & very comfortable when on the drops.

I've had them for months & are even better than my Cinelli RAMS!!!!!!!

Yes Brett that's the feeling I was beginning to have. I love the flat top though, very comfortable.

Rob do you ever use your drops? I can't even reach the brake levers with the bars rotated upwards!

I agree with Brett. Say farewell to shoulder-ache misery with some Deda shallow drops. Not only are they comfortable, but the smooth curves look good too.

i use drops when im sprinting....and when im bitching in no mans land trying to get across to a break :roll:

i use ergo bars and rate them highly.....my normal bars that are on my track bike arent comfortable and hurt my hands after a long period
