Well it seems a shame to ride all the way up there and not have one - trouble is that's the first real BIG climb so you'd have to ride about 95 miles with a stomach full of guiness

Any one who knows me can see my belly can hold more than one pint  but i am afraid its the brain that goes after even a strong wine gum!

If you want to get into the Fred Whitton then you best be quick.

Just got an email from the Lakes Road Club on the 3rd Jan to say that the entry opened on the 1st and the web site form had been accessed 600 times.

I have entered ; the Etape du Dales, Polka Dot, the Dragon and to top it all off, the Spud Riley Gran Fondo in September. By that time I will either be ; fighting fit and in great form or, completely knackered out ! Is it time yet to form the ACC sportive training gang ? :x

Cheers for this, Huw. This info is extremely useful and much appreciated.

I'll be going to the Cotswolds for sure and maybe one or two others (if I can get in), and doing some of the reliabilities in Kent etc to prepare.

My Etape du Dales entry has just gone in the post.
Looking forward to a pint of Theakston's Old Peculiar at the Tan Hill Inn.
Not looking forward to it coming back up on the Garsdale climb.

I'm planning on doing at least the local reliability rides and riding out to them from Sydenham, if anyone wants to hook up. Should add a nice c.30 miles to the distance.

Also, I'm thinking of doing the Pantani 'Nove Colli' in May (21st) and then travelling immediately up to the Dolomites to watch some Giro action. Will try to do it as cheap as possible. Anyone else interested? http://www.novecolli.it/mainsite_eng/home.asp

Dave,

Not sure the GF would let me out twice a year on my own to go to italy but would be up for the reliability trials leaving from Croydon.

Cheers
