A really nice ride in the sun. Good crowd, steady pace and ice tea and a Pasta Di Nata to finish it off. 97 miles for me too, average of 18mph.

Followed it up with a solo 60 mile ride to Whitstable via Rochester yesterday. I believe I was on the road that the first part of next year's 1st stage of the Tour will take, I just hope they re-surface it before then.

Always nice to end a ride with a swim in the sea and a picnic on the beach!

Phweew it was a scorcher, i had not ridden a lot of those roads before so it was a test of my memory- i had checked the route beforehand and took a map just in case, for all the anoraks out there my magic watch said 6200ft of climbing so the crystal palace and upper dulwich borders posse had a fair bit more. Plenty to munch on the bike coupled with energy/electrolyte drink meant i was never hungry/ thirsty throughout the ride- so much so that i never ate until 4 ish. (a new world record!)
