Thanks for all the positive comments guys. Results are just in:

I came 24th out of 434 finishers - 5th in my (extremely senior) age category.

What I didn't realise was they were giving out gold, silver and bronze standards - I missed gold by 24seconds! After 5 hours riding!

If I hadn't stopped to pick up my dropped glasses at the top of the climb - Ah well.

Congratulations and thanks for another great write-up.

Interesting that the people who finished ahead of you were mostly hardy locals, to judge from their names - Hay, Maclean, MacDonald, Gillan, etc.
