Obree film coming soon - hopefully

A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

[quote]He's back time trialling again now, and turns up as ever on a fixed wheel with a monstrous gear and home made handlebars.

Just found this picture of the legend that is Obree, TT-ing on fixed as usual.

Note:
1) The tri-bars, that's tri-bars only NO wing extensions! How did he get started?

2) The size of that bloody chainring, it's like the wheel off a kids bike!

Andrew, I'd love to borrow the Obree book if the offer still stands. I'm off to Cyprus for a week tomorrow and had meant to order this from Amazon but didn't get around to it. Plan to do the club run but miss the cafe stop. Hope the offer extend to totally unfamiliar faces. I live in Middlefields which isn't too far from you?

The film is bloody great guys.
Acting is a little off here and there and it certainly isn't faithful to his book/the truthbut it's a great cycling movie. I was a little teary at the end.

Oh and being a Brit in the US it was very easy to see that this is a Brit flick - none of the American Razzamataz and flag waving - American Flyers it isn't.

Saying that American Flyers rocks too!!

No problem Rob. Sylv still has it at the moment, I think he got a bit depressed with some of the less cheerful aspects of Obree's life :D , but if he is done with it in time I can pop it round any time as you are only a minute away.

Alternatively Sylv would you be okay posting it to Rob?

P.S. I have my ticket for the film :P .

Cheers Andrew, how did you book your ticket. I have to admit I didn't make too much effort to look. I just got to the dates/showing times and posted the link.

Having chuckled my way through the book, I'd jump at the chance to take part in an en-masse crease-up laugh-riot at the screening. But I'm away in the old country on that date so will have to wait until it comes out on video, or whatever they call it these days
