Well at least with shimano, i can change up a gear whilst in full flight (thanks to not having that stupid thumb thingy!), thus beating you all (apart from mr ives maybe) in the sprint, and thus get my coke (coca-cola, liverpool hasnt corrupted me that much... yet!) first in the cafe, and then have the pick of the seats! :lol:

Shimano is a very old corporation too. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they had started before Campag. anyone knows off hand?

Testament to the durability and class of SHIMANO...

My little bike got a treat today, had its first ever service... yes thats right, after 21months and probably about 10,000 miles on the clock. and you know what, ive needed one new chain in that time, a couple of cables, and brake blocks, boo hoo. Bottom bracket smooth as the my freshly shaven legs :shock:

, cassette in perfect order, shifters as precise as new.

AMEN

Oh and by the way, a huge BIG UP to Bontager too, after the same abuse my Bontrager Race Lites hardley needed a thing doing to them after all this time. Still true, only slight snag was a small metal ring in the rear hub that the greatest bike shop on the planet, thats right, SIGMA SPORT, replaced for the wonderful price of Â£000000000000000000000

Great thread!

Shimano - made by the Japs, who also make the most reliable cars on the planet. Honda, Toyota, Nissan etc. Honda made 6 million engines (of one type) and had not one failure!

Campagnolo - made by the Italians, who also made those awfull Fiats and Alfa cars that rusted to bits and all the parts fell off.

Any comparisons here?

I still have a fully functioning Campag Super Record rear mech from 1975 - Shimano had just started then with the "Titlist" rear mech.....How many of those survive????

Classy Italian kit will always win the day.

Record is soooooooooooo lovely.

Adam is so misguided, may learn the error of his ways one day.
