[quote="Sean"]but I'll do Box Hill on the way back :D

[quote="Sean"]I'd had plans to do the Hill on the way back, but unfortunately an urge need for a s*** made sure everyone was gone by the time I mounted my Condor

Hmmm, that's not a very good excuse. You should have chased them down having shed some weight. :D

[quote="Lord of Merstham"]well i was pushing nearly 600w (wake up finbar)

600w is that all, my hoover has more than twice that!

[quote="Lord of Merstham"]notorious late riser  Huw Williams.

I'm saying nothing, just sniggering in a childish manner.

Aaaahh Mr Green has finally surfaced, obviously he has had a few black sheep (snigger).

Let me tell you young man that 600w is a fair old rate! (especially when old, bald and fat).

Just ask any technical like minded soul like toks/adam/huw/rich/rob.

Looks like you led out a good ride yesterday- long may it continue.

Bloody luddites- bring on the jethro!

Well I joined the 19's to make a small group of 6 riders but the only person I knew was Hal ..
Hal and 'Jim from TSN ' ? - (usually on a yellow Litespeed), spent most of the time on the front driving us along at a brisk pace.. We did the extended thru 'n off and were quite steady and smooth , ' Ben Dangerous ! ' was with us but seemed to be hanging back a bit at times - I was not sure if that was a training tactic or not !
We managed to stay upright on the odd ice patch but we did not have much left in the tank for the Charlwood sprint as Jim took that comfortably - only right as he did do most of the work !
After the cafe we had another small group to Box H. Stu, Paul H & Sylv quickly shot off up the road closely followed by Ben D ! and then myself , Hal and 2 others ... We thought we would sweep up Ben D quickly but he stayed out in front ( well of us anyway - told you he was training ! ), till just before Box Hill. I crawled up the slopes to meet the fast boys having a rest at the top...
We took off and I managed to hang on to the Sylv , Paul H & Stu Express Train till the 2nd bump on the way to the traffic lights where Stu & Sylv kicked again & the elastic snapped & i had to let them go.. Luckily the lights at the 217 gave me 1 more chance to hang on and we had a fast run down to Kingswood and Coulsdon where I met up with several others for a coffe fix and then headed home with Chris K.. got back with 67 miles on the clock and tired legs - great stuff .... :)

Well, I went with the 19’s a nice small compact group of 6, with Hal and Brian Nolan, a few other familiar faces and another whom I later found out was Jim, the triathlete. Anyway Hal and Jim lead the group out at a good pace, eventually Hal peeled off and another took his place then another etc as Jim stayed at the front, and did so for most of the ride only sheltering a few times so he kept us on our toes.

Lots of ice/mush about but as the group was nice and small no one came off. We got to the DC after losing one of us so did t&t with 5 but only 4 were really active, still it was one of the best t&t’s I’ve done in a while. As Brian said already, Jim also took the sprint.

Had a nice hot choc, a chat with Ajay and got a free ACC mug then I headed off home via box hill by myself (to stop myself from sheltering behind others), got overtaken by Sylv, Stu, & Paul near box hill but I tagged on behind them to the bottom of the hill only to watch them disappear off into the distance as I dropped back. Got to the top eventually and shortly afterwards some of the others made an appearance.

Then once again I headed off, knowing the TG boys would be chasing. They got me at the big roundabout just before Kingswood, and as the lights went green their acceleration caught me off guard and they opened a gap I couldn’t close. I kept catching sight of them the rest of the way home and passed Stu fixing his bike just after that really rundown private housing estate on the hill. At CSS I joined Sylv for the journey back to Croydon, parted company and headed home.

Thats right you tell him Ian. Thats fifty watts more than world Pursuit Champ Bradley Wiggins...admittedly he holds ~550watts for around 4 mins and some secs but hey power's power

600W is poor if it was for a 5sec sprint...But I don't think Ian was doing a full out sprint. Was 600W the peak power u hit on the hill?

Last year during a 1min test I averaged 610W.
