Sound's like you work for the UCI Mo  .
[quote]following Qatar's example

Surely the most tedious race in the World, got to do better than that. Looking at the coverage it's just some big cities (brand new and well developed) where the stages start and finish, with miles of mind numbing, flat, featureless, roads through the desert in between. Nothing happens until the red kite.

Cycling is primarily a European sport and where it's foundations are. I've nothing against other parts of the World having races and spreading cycling worldwide, but they should wait until the races are there, the UCI wants to force people in to a country it wants to expand in to for a crappy race at the expense of far superior events.

The Classics and Monuments are known as that for a reason, for the UCI to try and elbow the Tour Down Under in on a similar footing is ridiculous.

Sorry, its that generalisation that is made, about the LEDC-MEDC line. Wasnt concentrating tryin to do I.T. Coursework at the same time.

I quite like the Tour of Qatar, it helps show form and it isnt that boring. Personally I like pre-season and end of season races, and the Grand Tours.

I agree with the point your making on the UCI, personally I feel the Tour of Down Under is never going to reach the same status as the classics and monuments. But the Classics and monuments are cold! And I like watching bright and sunny races!

Nothing should be done to disturb the current reputable races, that is not the way to do it.I might browse the internet to see if there is any races in Iran, because it being an Islamic Republic, I didnt think skintight lycra would be go down very well, but I did spot the Iranian National Team last year though in some race. Personally I think one should make more continental races, and leave the ProTour alone, before its messed up even more. In my view Het Volk should have been made a ProTour race not the TDU.
