Creaking under load - drivetrain?

Well, the noise has returned, but more a rhythmic rattle while pedalling, either sitting or standing. I replaced the chain 100 miles ago - was a 105 chain, now a Dura Ace 10 speed. Cassette however is still the original 12-25 105 that came with the bike, and has 2000 miles on it (pathetic I know for a year but I'm only new to this road riding malarkey).
Is this a normal life for a road cassette? It's certainly longer than my XT mtb cassettes last before replacing.

Nobody's suggested the chainring bolts as a source of annoying noises yet. If those aren't tight then you can all sorts of creaks and rattles as the chainrings try to move about on the spider.

Is it definitely coming from the chainset and not the jockey wheels for example. After some muddy water in some of the swoops yesterday my MTB was making a high pitched whistling/squeaking noise. Very nice like birds singing in the trees . Thought it was the chainset/BB area as it only happened when pedaling but was actually from the jockey wheels. Squirt of water to clean some of the excess grot of it and it was okay .

saddle rails and post freshly greased, chain ring bolts tightened. got ultegra cassette on order from chainreaction as some of the original 105 teeth looking slightly worn. Annoying thing is that my mtb, with front and rear shocks, and pivot bushings all over the place, makes no noise at all

At last!

GB's stripped the rear hub and it had very little grease - rebuilt, repacked and all fine now. Perhaps I should have bought their handmade wheels after all even if they were slightly heavier than Easton's finest
