Had a text from Carl F (a pretty good climber to say the least) who's out there this week with Matt, both ACC. Here's the quote from the text when I asked how the Tourmalet day had been....

'Bl@@dy tough! Pins raw, climbed Aubisque, Samour and Tourmalet. Tourmalet was nothing like I've ever experienced. 17K at av of 8-10 percent. Top of Tourmalet was foul. Pi$$ed with rain and v.cold but apart from that it's been 26-28 degrees.'

Sounds like an epic adventure and well worth the trip. I'm sure all the training tips received so far are just what's needed.

Note to self - must lose some weight before attempting :? !

Cheers

Oooo... now you've all scared me!!

I did the Long Evans ride at the weekend which took in Ranmore, Box Hill, Wotton towards Leith, Friday Street, Ockley to Cold Harbour, A29 to Cold Harbour and a few others. Wasn't too bad and the furthest I've ever ridden on a road bike, no furthest I've ever ridden on any bike! I was beginning to think I might just about be ok... starting to wonder.

Only 2 weeks to go, will get a few more hills in this week and this weekend... then will do my best and may just have to stop from time to time.

Thanks all, am dead excited!
