Cheers for that guys.
Quiet week - yeah right !!

Yep, you should give Marmotte a go Mr PVT - you coped ok when you went up the Glandon that time, and you survived riding up Galibier to support us. Go on, get out your compact - or even your triple. You know you wanna do it.

This is pretty useful. It gives your splits/ranking as you progressed through the course, including your time and ranking for climbing up alpe d'huez.

Just type in your race number. If you don't know it you can get it from the spreadsheet of results on the sports communication website. Just click on La Marmotte 174.

To be fair Maria, I did struggle up the Glandon, and then turned back, when you carried on, but having done all the climbs albeit on different days, I haven't got the confidence that I could do them all in one day.

My other concern is that I would get carried away riding with groups, go to fast and not make it.

Talking to Jon Masters last night, he almost convinced me that i could do it.

Paul - I've seen you ride in that area and you'd have no problem

The descents are so long you'd make up loads of time given your prowess - as for riding too fast in groups TOO BLOODY RIGHT - that's the best bit!

Every group I got into I was right on the edge (and sometimes a bit past it) but that only happens on the section between the bottom of the Glandon and the Telegraph, then again on the descent from Galibier to Borg d'Oissan. Believe me it's worth going too fast to stay with the groups because the alternative would be unthinkable (endless long drags into the wind :( ) But the good thing is there's sooooo many riders there's always a group of some sort to work with.

then when you get to the climbs you can only ride them at your own pace anyway - not the pace of a group

I think you should go for it - I'll put in a provisional booking with KOM for next year and join you :D

Wow what a read. Michelle, Keith and all you other other NUTTERS you should be in straight jackets and on medication. I never did renew the subscribtion to the Comic so have missed the write ups.

Well done and so superbly written. Really inspirational stuff. Good luck for next year you silly people....not quite as mad as the 12 hours but not far off!!!

Pecil me in for next year. That gives me a whole year to work on my fitness, gearing, weight and Mrs I (steady Finnbar!).

er... i'm thinking about this. i hit 35 next year  and could do with a big event to aim for.

like mike says, a year should be long enough to train... and get over my fear of heights, descents, hot conditions, hard work, commitment and spiders.

so... pencil me in. why not!
