Tim Coales should be in touch with the start sheet.

Sean, if Jo can't ride you can always ride as an individual.

Any one want a tow!!

Postby Robert » Mon Jun 26, 2006 4:42 pm

I know its late in the day, but my powers of persuasion have let me down  All the begging and pleading couldn`t convince Tamar she up to being towed by me. So to anyone out there, whether Jill or Jack, I`m up to provide a tow. If not no worries I`ll be down anyway, I`ll just go solo.

Sean you're a brave man after my inept navigation skills last week. :)

Unfortunately I'm going to have to make a fairly quick getaway, and miss the pizza. If somebody else could help out and assist Sean and his Condor back to their nest I'd be grateful.

Thanks,

Andrew.

Sean,

I intend to take my car so I should be able to give you a lift after the pizza.

Cheers

Speaking as one of the pushers (try explaining that to the rozzers!) for the evening - it was indeed a good one. Perfect weather for a TT - kind of wish I'd brought my bike (yeah right!!).

Well done to all the participants - can't wait to see all the results

Cheers - Snoop

Thanks to Tim, Maria, Joyce et al for a well organised event.

Only hiccup from my point of view was getting stuck in traffic, first getting through Shirley and then on the A22, which meant Maria & I arrived at Holmwood after our scheduled start time. Still, we signed on and started at the back of the field behind all the solos. My warmup consisted of riding about 20 metres from the car to the start, then running into the bushes for a pee. Not quite ideal preparation.

Still we'd discussed some tactics, which involved me riding my road bike instead of TT bike to give more shelter, Maria shouting either "Go" or "Easy", and our trump card which was Maria going off first to set the initial pace and avoiding the possibility of me dropping her by starting too fast.

Well, off we went, and I came through onto the front at the crest of the first little drag after the start as planned. The shouts of "Go" started, and outweighed the shouts of "Easy", which only happened towards the end of some the drags and were actually a relief as I could soft pedal for a bit until the "Go" started again. In the last couple of miles all I could hear was heavy breathing from behind, so I could tell it was hurting but Maria was hanging in there. I led her out down the final downhill to the finish at 33mph in top gear, at which point she had enough left in the tank to come through off my wheel to cross the finish line ahead of me.

Quite pleased with our time of 24:52 in view of the no warm-up fiasco, but that dastardly duo of Amy Robinson and Keith Knight pipped us to it by 12 seconds, so well done to them.

I like the 'go' and 'easy' routine Jon - I think that there was a voice in my head saying go and easy, that or I was getting feedback from Maria! I think we can try it for our 4 up. Our (Gavin's) team were all out last night and we posted similar times with Steve (shadow) leading the pace. Anyway I did a PB of I think 26.33 shaving about 15 secs off my previous time and I did the dragon at the W/e so was not feeling super. As others have commented I think that I am fully 'sportifified' and will concentrate on other things for the remaining summer weeks.

Many thanks to Maria and her helpers for arranging this event - I was really impressed by the performances and it seemed that the conviviality of the event and the pleasant evening all conspired in our favour.

I went round in 26:38 which compared to 27:40 last week is a big improvement. I am glad the 4-up TTT team were so close together with the times. Looking forward to that event now.

Great event, thanks to Tim, Maria, Joyce and the pushers/turners. I even managed to get my g/f to come along.

Thanks to Tim and Joyce for organising, and to Monty, Phil, Peter, Snoop and John C et al for helping out.
Great company in the pizza restauarant afterwards too.

It was a good evening all round, and hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as me (well - apart from those 24 and a bit minutes of giving birth -Thanks Jon !). In the old days I could turn up late, all flumuxed, high on adrenaline and bang out a pb - maybe even score the fastest time. Oh, how times have changed !

Seriously, well done to the winners and look forward to doing it again next year.

Cheers !

Just like to echo the thanks to the organisers, timekeepers, pushers etc who gave up their evenings to enable the rest of us to ride round in a big loop.

Very pleased with 26.30, if my computer is right, compared with a solo debut 28.41 last week in the wind. I was helped along by shouts of "Go!, Go!" from behind when I started to flag towards the top of the drags by Geraldine. I'm sure if I'd been riding solo I'd have given in to the pain and eased over the brow, but being a coward when shouted at I did as I was told.

We didn't trouble the podium with our time, but we weren't caught either so I'll settle for that, and hope Geraldine wasn't too dissapointed at not having a faster Jack.

Cheers,

Andrew.
