TimNick, for Kent check out some of the routes I've put in the
routes section.
Basically if you head up from GBs to Selsdon (they're digging up the road but won't really slow you down on a bike) you can either then go straight on and climb up towards Farleigh Golf Course. You can cut through the lanes but if you don't know them stay on the main road and then turn left to head over towards Titsey Hill. Alternatively at Selsdon Lights turn left and then turn right by Forestdale shops after about a mile and head out via Featherbed Lane - just stay on this to the White Bear pub and then veer right and just follow the road, then left at the end to take you to Titsey. You could head to Four Elms (don't miss the left turn by the pub when descending Crockham Nicolas
)and come back over Toys Hill or head out via Pilgrims Way to Star Hill and then cut back through Halstead, Cudham to Biggin Hill. If you have a shufty at a map it's fairly easy to find your way about.
For a cafe stop if you do the Four Elms way or head through Westerham then the Tudor Tea Rooms by the village green is good. It does very nice English puds with custard, you won't be disappointed. The New Year's Eve Pub Ride posts are quite nice loops with a few hills and leave you at the White Bear for a nice pint
(To get home just head down Featherbed Lane).
