As a newcomer to group riding, it is more comfortable for me when formation is kept tight, everything is predictable, we all know when we're stopping, going speeding up, slowing down etc. (note - I am not claiming to be without sin).

Doesn't this seem like the sort of discussion best held in a pub?

There is nothing stopping anybody from stepping up at the AGM and making a change - any takers....I bet not?

and be treated the way Snoop got treated? I'm not even deemed suitable as a VC so have no hope of having a voice on the committee.

Sean is right though, some fresh blood is needed, though if you look at what happened to the last poor soul who tried to have a voice no wonder people wont step forward.

Why is the club so afraid of change?

The way to make a change is to step up at the AGM, put yourself forward and then get voted in. This process is done every year as everybody on the Committee has to be voted in, it is a part of the Club Rules so effectivily you can completely change the club everytime. All members of the club are entitled to go to the AGM and therefore vote but you need people to vote for and there lies the problem.

This seems to have gone from a question of riding etiquette to allegations of bullying behaviour and a possible coup de etat! Was the original point well made by Toks to enable all readers to reflect on their own and group behaviour whilst on club runs. I think all this other stuff probably belongs elsewhere. For my own part I will ride quietly and happily when all is well in the riding group and share my views when it is not.
