Winter, from December till February, is mild but much cooler and a wetter than on the south coast. The average high gets down to 15°C in January when the average low gets down to 9°C. This is hardly cold and many like to visit the area for walking holidays during this season. The sea generally does not fall below 19°C which can make an interesting contrast to the cooler air temperature. The sea is bound to be warmer than any unheated outdoor swimming pools which cool down quickly due to their small volume. Sunshine levels remain good at around six hours per day throughout the season. Rain is still not frequent at all but when it falls it can be heavy. If you’re lucky you’ll miss the rain altogether.

Anticipation is heightening - cold weather has rendered me 'prepare for sun' mode but stay warm at all costs - hope to be stretching my legs on the coast by Tuesday afternoon - what time does it get dark in Lanzerote? 8)

.. for about 15 minutes, then the clouds parted and an hour later normal situation was resumed :D Though there is bad weather forecast for the next few days. And the relentless wind never stops even on beautiful days - gave me a headache the first couple days.

But you folks will love it there!

Thanks Sylv, always assuming we don't get snowed in at London!

That was fun, a very enjoyable week with the bonus of being guided by Maurice Burton. The locals said it was chilly but 17 - 20 and cycling in shorts every day was lovely as far as I was concerned, gather it was a bit grim in Blighty so looks like we (well Alan) picked the right week.

Windy and very geolical for scenery but some bits of it are quite stunning. Not pretty in a flowers and greenery way but I thought it was very scenic in a different way. A good place for cycling in February.

Yes a good week, 400 miles and 30000+ feet of climbing. Some mild social activities in the evening and good chats with Maurice about his pro career. Food and hotel were both OK, rides demanding with generally good surfaces and considerate drivers. We went to ride our bikes and we did!

I seem to have gained 2kg during the week. Damn that all-you-can-eat buffet three times a day.

I'm hoping that it's just the hard worked muscles retaining water

Seem to've lost a bit of weight myself...

Rode quite well out in Lanzarote considering how I've been struggling even in the weeks before going. Still feel a bit tired from my efforts - glad I've got the rest of the week off :D

Be tempted to go back there but not too often - I've seen most of the bits I wanted to.

Hi Alan

Looks like you had a great trip. I had a look at the rides you put up on Strava - good work! I was in Sicily last week trying to make the most of the crazy weather, but it looks like you had a better run of luck than me. I got hailed on about 10 times - that's one hail storm per hour!

Cheers
