Jon Hemming, did you realise just what you were starting when you simply posted a link to a BBC url?

Or perhaps it was not our J H, but the MP one who has been in the news recently?

It will be interesting to see what happens to price of bikes produced in Italy or Germany/France etc if Italy is kicked out of Euro zone or all Euro zone countries go back to their own currencies. :D

Well since you think that the comprehensive education system is "barking insanity" you must have been mortified.

But still, how did you do out of it ? Did low achievers like myself hold back from your full potential, as you very clearly suggested is the case with a comprehensive system ?

You must be very bitter and angry that someone as gifted, talented, and as special as you, should have been forced to remain in the same environment as the lazy and stupid. Will you ever get over it ?

Too right! As one of the lazy and stupid ones, the effort of dragging everyone down to my level scarred me for life; some of the blighters in my class could even read and count!! :D
Still, at least my poly was by the seaside so I could nip down the amusement arcade in between my remedial spelling lessons.

[img]http://singletrackworld.com/forum/my-plugins/bbcode-buttons/default/icon_idea.gif[/img] You could try not clicking and reading threads which you find uninteresting.

It's what I do. And I find it works rather well.

[quote="Bo-Gilly"] ...... well I've heard it said that the Greeks have produced great mathematicians, philosophers, classical architecture and literature, concepts such as democracy and fabulous multi-discipline games, and so on, but in fairness that was a while back.

...and the kebab of course.

Although that may have been the Turks, or some other folk from that neck of the woods. Anyway, a damn fine post-pub snack whoever invented it. :D

Don't forget Stavros Flatley - the only talented act to come off a Simon Cowell show (apart from Jedward and Wagner Carillho).

But apart from mathematics, philosophy, classical architecture and literature, democracy, Battlefield 3, kebabs and Stavros Flatley, what have the Greeks ever done for us?
