After last nights fantastic (particularly for England) match and the Figo "headbut", quote of the tournament....

- Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari defended Figo.
He said: "Jesus said we should turn the other cheek, unfortunately, Figo is not Jesus Christ."

I wish he was going to be the next England boss, Strachan levels of comedy.

I've a got a good feeling about France this year, having watched undoubtebly the best creative performance of the tournament from Zidane the other night... Brazil finally found out that you can't get away with carrying a lumberjack centre forward game after game...I'm not sure about Germany v Italy tonight its a hard one to call, perhaps with home advantage Germany might just edge it;... and finally and rather belatedly what were most of us thinking - football was coming home?? yeah right!! it was quarter final business as usual - one rousing 45mins, and then out on pens, oh and of course we found another convenient scape goat :(

Suffice to say that a number of players from spanish football teams may or may not have been cited as part of Operation Puerta.

And Real Madrid players may or may not have been amongst them.

Now I'm not suggesting for a moment that a major international figure and captain of his country may or may not have felt it a reasonable time to step down in case some sh1t may or may not be about to hit the fan but you never know.

And it may or may not be true that Cyclists have turned out to occupy a very small percentage of the names on the Puerta list.

But you never heard any of that from me ok?

Anyway back to the football

Italians - cheats (just look at their league)
Portuguese - cheats (the worst divers in a tournament full of diving)

So I'm hoping for a France v Germany final, 4-4 at full time, 6-6 AET and a penalty shootout. And we all know who's going to win the penalty shootout right?

I hope some of those comments were tongue in cheek Huw. How do we feel and react when Joe Public brands all cyclists cheats when, we hope, it is just the minority?

And I think one of the biggest divers in the tournament has been Joe Cole, though obviously he's English so doesn't get the same attention afforded to him by the redtops.

Extremely tongue in cheek Dave - and like I say, portugal are only the extreme example in a tournament full of divers (and you're certainly right about Joe Cole)

I think you have to fancy the Germans with the home advantage to win the final. But enough of that, if you fancy a bet stick your hard earned cash on Millwall to go up, great odds 12/1. Go on you know it makes sense!

A better way to lose my cash would be to give it to a charity than a bookie :-)

Well, that's one of the best games I ever saw - stunning performance. What happened to the Italian negativity and 'keeping it tight' of old?

Awesome display of hard work and creativity in the same team.
The Germans played their part but anything other than an Azzuri win would have been a travesty. If they play like that, and the French play like they did against Brazil, the final should be quite something.

Best not mention the Portuguese getting there and spoiling things!

I'm definitely supporting the Azzuri after last night. They were unrecognizable after the earlier rounds.

Gotta make time to ride the bike John so I usually start about this time
