croydon-spanish and Ning

Hola a todos, que tal estais?

Somewhat off topic but of possible interest...... When I am not cycling I try to immerse myself in Hispanic language and culture. To these ends I run an informal meetup group on Monday evenings in the upstairs bar of the Spreadeagle pub next to the the Library and Clocktower in Croydon. Recently I have started a closed social network to give this enterprise a virtual as well as a real embodiment. We are at http://croydon-spanish.ning.com/. So if you are learning Spanish or know someone else or have Spanish speaking friends please pass this information to them. Feel free to look at the site (and join us) and consider it as a possibile platform for ACC.. I believe the Ning adaptable systemm offers some advantages over the facebook group.

hasta luego muchachos

Alan - am I right in assuming that your use of "muchacho" suggests a special interest in Castellano from Latin America as opposed to Castellano from Spain ?

Do you have any Latin Americans attending your meetups at the Spread eagle ? How much does attendance cost and assuming that no parking is available, is there a direct tram line from Lloyd park or somewhere safe to leave a bike ?

Nearest tram stop is George Street, about 5 mins walk.

It is free except for the beer you buy. I have locked my bike to the railings outside and we have Spanish speakers from all parts. Hope this and the other replies is helpful.. Cheers
