Postby sonic909 » Sun Nov 08, 2009 2:10 am

Is it propper black tie or just smart?

Is there a dance/disco after?

Whats the usual format?

I only ask these newbie questions as i am thinking of going and am trying to sell the idea to my gf..!

Black tie if you have it is good, but smart otherwise. Suited and booted.

No, well you can have a dance if you like but it probably depends how much you've drunk.

Bar with chat and drinks - dinner and awards presentations - general mingling, table hopping, drinking and chat - retire to the bar for more philosophical discussion.

Where will the vote be, and is Cousldon South likely to be a point? as i live within walking distance from that!

Gonna have to get a new cocktail dress!

[quote]The 81st ACC Annual Prize Giving and Dinner will take place at Wotton House, Dorking on 16 January 2010.

More details later, but for now you might just want to think about dry cleaning the tux, or choosing a new cocktail dress.

Get your tickets below. They’re £30 per head, £5 extra per head for a return Addiscombe bus.

You should have got an email from Snoop as well with all the details, such as purchasing option at CSS or cafe with cash. If you didn't then it's probably because the membership list doesn't have your current email address. Do you receive the LR emails? If not pm Snoop with your current email address and all should be dandy for future mail outs.

Depends how many votes it gets   . I would've thought it's a possibility as it'll be on the main route out of Croydon....I think? Best thing is to pm Paul Tunnell he is dinner organiser so he may have an idea of the likely route - or could speak with coach co?? Dunno. As for the vote - again best pm Paul as I have no idea how that's going to work. I'm expecting to be picked up from timbuctoo

I think Dorking is quite a treck considering we are a Croydon based Club, not sure about this one, i'll sleep on it and think it over (Rant over)

Not yet.

We need to get bookings first, but I would think ECroydon is as near as you'll get, as the coach will then be returning to Banstead.

There was a vote for venue on the forum. I believe, although was unanaware at the time as it was covered so well by the folk organising the dinner, that SPH dropped a couple of clangers last year - hence the alternative option and vote.

A lot of members don't live in Croydon and are out towards the Coulsdon/
Redhill/Reigate area. Apparantly it is a very nice venue (looks very grand from the web), and there aren't that many nice places that'll do a big do like this for 100+ people without charging ludicrous amounts.

All the rooms seem to have gone so Star Lane traffic lights on the A23 would suit me - about a mile and a half before CSS on the way home :D

Thanks for your interest Mark F,

I'll book you a place

You're right it's gone quiet - only 22 votes when 100 plus attend the dinner

The committee met last week and decided that if we could get the transport sorted (which I believe we have)then we will book Wotton House for the next club dinner and prize presentation, and if it doesn't work out, we can revert to plan B the year after.

At the time the decision on venue was taken, the vote was split 50-50. The score in George's post is the "latest score" - several months after the decision was taken.

If it was 50/50 who made the casting decision?
