Longer ride on 19 December

Postby Amy » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:16 pm

Jon CC has come up with a route out into Kent and I intend to be on it - anyone else?

I've left the details at work, so perhaps if you could remind me again, Jon - on here - perhaps a link to the Map my Ride page? I'll have a look and see if I can suggest a stop for food somewhere :D

It will be dependent on the weather and can be extended or shortened as the day dictates

I think the pace will be about 16mph and we'll wait as necessary.

Should be fun. we'll head out through Bletchingley down to Edenbridge, Mark Beech etc - and back via Pilgrims way. a bit lumpy but no cat 1s :D I did it today and the longer route (i've got a shorter route too!!) takes in a lot more climbs - up to Fordcombe, Stapleford?, Leigh, Sevenoaks weald - than i remember. Perhaps, thinking about it, we'll do the shorter 55 mile route As Amy says we'll keep together and stop and regroup after every climb.

I'll post the route later.

If the choice is cycling or Christmas shopping, I'll go with the cycling. Even if it is raining.

So glad I don't have many to buy Christmas presents for...

Thanks, Jon. Forgot to say that it'll start from CSS as per a normal club run so that we don't have to think too hard to get going in the morning

Hmmm, food...

I was thinking of the cafe at Priory Farm just below Nutfield or there is another garden centre between Bletchingly and Godstone on the A25. Knights at Warlingham is another possibility though perhaps too far in.

Or how about the cafe at Westerham?

Just a gentle nudge to remind people about this ride...

I have to admit that it might be interesting for me - it's our Christmas dinner with work - Gatti's near Liverpool Street station - the night before

I'm still up for it.

Amy: The forecast is (currently) bright but cold. Should shift a hangover nicely.

Do you mind! I don't do hangovers :x Don't see the point of getting so drunk you can't remember what happened

It'll be the getting up after a late night that worries me...

I was soooo much looking forward to this, an extended ride at a pace I could keep up with. Unfortunately I have been reminded that there is a family lunch somewhere and a panto. Oh yes there is!! Apparently I cannot miss it.
Darn
Whatever the weather have a good day :)

Don't worry, Marcus, I'm sure it will be repeated.

It's a hole I've been trying to fill for a long time now but we never get enough interest :( So come on folks, if you are interested in this sort of ride, let us know here, even if we don't many people out on this ride at least we'll know it's worth it to continue trying :D

I think its a great idea to do a longer ride on different routes perhaps once a month or more if theres interest. Ive noticed most other clubs seem to do this but is the popularity of the acc the fact of turning up on a sat morning and getting in the right group for you and riding a route you know. Still i would be keen aslong as i was waited for.

I am very interested in this sort of ride. My bike can almost find its own way to the cafe so anything to give it some variety will be welcome.
