Del: Pothole pics

I've put the pics I snapped this morning here: http://93.97.161.139/pothole/

That's a webserver that I made from sellotape and toilet roll holders so not the most reliable. If you have any trouble downloading, drop me a PM.

Looks like it goes all the way to Awstraylia  Glad you are OK.

Where is it? That piece of info might help save another drowning?

Cheers - Snoop

Thanks Phil.

Will download them later today.

Rob - thanks for the note and also to Graham and Andy for staying around until my wife came to pick me and the bike up.

I've been up to Cycles Dauphin this afternoon and they are going to replace the rims and check out the forks, although they look ok.

I drove to Dauphin via Newdigate just to get some more pictures, which I showed them when I arrived. They seemed quite impressed that I hadn't come off the bike. In hindsight, so am I.

I'll be contacting Mole Valley Council on Monday to put in a claim. Can anyone who has hit a pothole recently advise me. Do I just contact the Highways Department?

Also, one of the guys at Dauphin warned that they may claim that as there was no paint around the hole, they were unaware and cannot be liable. He thought that there liability starts when they are aware and that painting round the hole is confirmation of this.

I don't see how they could claim to unaware or not responsible for a hole of that size.

Thanks Snoop. It's impressively deep and long (fnarr!).

It's about 100 metres before the left hand bend into Newdigate Village.

Nice Finbarring  . Glad you stayed upright hitting that Del, nasty looking number and certainly made a mess of your wheel.

I'm not suggesting anything here, but what if you went back to take dome more photos, just to clarify the size, like, and there happened to be a rectangle of paint round the hole?

It would be a strange coincidence if that paint was the same colour (orange?) that the council use to mark out potholes.

Still impressed that you stayed upright and avoided any damage to you. Have you thought about taking up mountainbiking?
