I have been told off for posting my rides. So unrepentently, set off around 9.30, sunny 21 degrees. Weaved our way through town dodging holes in the road, combi vans and motor taxis. Began the road climb to Granja Porcon (which you can google) 20km of switchbacks at about 8%. There were 4 of us, one on a road bike. Put in a few attacks but these were shortlived due to 10,000' of altitude and crap blood and recovery rates. We then turned off onto a track through pine forest before heading for the farm where we had a lunch of chicharones and mote (fried pork chunks and boiled maize). Most of the return was a fast descent but we stopped so I could take photos of wild vicuña, a sort of small llama but faster and with pretty face and long necks.
On the road section there were more attacks and great descending fun. We had some slight showers so slowed a little on the uncertain surface. About half way down we stopped for a convoy of 10 petrol lorries delivering to the massive Yanacocha gold mine. In all we were out for 6 hours and it was a memorable and great last bike ride here in Cajamarca Peru. Hopefully see you in 3 weeks when I will be hoping for a sunny ride with the 17s.

Take care

Alan.

As Wallace would say Alan, that sounds like a cracking adventure. I did google it and that's one wiggly old road, one section disappears up it's own backside about 3 times! A dramatic looking area, you must have a lot of photos to filter through. A nice bit of altitude training you're doing there, you'd better be careful when you come back you don't fall foul of the men in white coats at the LVRC races  .

Wanted a faster ride today with a bit of TT training, so after a bit of chat at CSS I cut off a group at Gatton and went along the A25 from Redhill to Westerham and then up Botley Hill. Ridden at level 4 for 85% of the time and a little bit (15%) at level 3.

Blimey Andrew,
Well under the hour this year I reckon.
Keep it up.
Cheers,
John.
