Has anyone got a soft bike bag to lend?

Postby Sylv » Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:14 am

I've got a big semi-solid padded one, but not much use when you have to carry all your stuff on your back.
Just needs to be big enough to take a dismantled road bike on the train
I can lend mine in return if needed
It's for 14-24 March
Cheers

I don't have one to lend but I have one that I want to sell.

It's a padded Avenir one. Brand new and still in plastic. £20.

Could you point me towards a description somewhere, i take it's not the foldable version then (which is what i'm after, so that i can fold it in my backpack) - if it is though I will have it thanks.

Here you go. Identical to this one:

If you want it, I live 5 mins from East Croydon station and work in Croydon.

Don't think it's strictly foldable. Folds to about quarter size. Don't know if it will go in a rucksack. You're welcome to come and check it out if you want.

I have the one you mean, that you can have.

It has a stuff sack but is still reasonably bulky and heavy but OK for shortish distance. It's about the size of a rolled up foam sleeping mat, but weighs about 3-4kg. With a bit of thought you could stash it on the bike or outside the bag.

Lighter option: If you will be the only person to handle it then you could go with an even more lightweight option of a bicycle/motorbike rain cover from halfords. You might have to be a bit inventive on how you carry the "packed" bike but if you only carry it the length of a train platform it doesn't really matter.

I think that would be good Aodan, thanks. I could come pick it up sometime at your convenience.
