Does cycling mess up your exposed skin?

Postby sonic909 » Tue Mar 09, 2010 12:32 am

I hate the cold... my face is falling off!

No amount of moisturizer will repair my face... i am sure riding into the wind when its -4 isn't good for my complexion... i think i am prematurely aging myself!

Anyone got any solutions other than stealing my gfs moisturizer?

mmm...i do quite a bit of VET racing (men+women 40+) in the summer and you do see a few fit looking fellas in their fifties and sixties with rather weather beaten faces. I wonder if thats due to hours riding in to the wind without having moisturised. :?: Actually no I don't (life isn't quite that sad  ) but a lttle cocoa butter, nivea, clinque, loreal or body shop stuff on the old (not so Old in your case Keith  ) 'boat race' can't be a bad idea for facial protection and maintaining those youthful looks especially if you're planning to sit at the head of the 19's group to give yourself a really hard workout

yeah (for us sensitive souls) it's the cold weather, and showering three times a day doesnt help.

lots and lots of plain fragrance free moisturiser.... Id go into more detail with suggestions of occasional exfoliation, but I fear the leather skinned grumps will start making snarky comments. :D

The other peril is nasty stuff on the roads in the wet, one day over winter I rode in with half length bibs and something on the surface of the road basically stripped the surface of my skin off in the gap between socks and knees.

sonic - you should try Aveeno moisturiser by Johnson & Johnson, available in larger Boots .. Believe me, I have tried almost every moisturiser going ( E45, Dove, Epaderm, Diprobase, etc etc), as I have suffered with dry skin / eczema for a long time.
Started using Aveeno a year ago and have never felt more comfortable, once you apply it lasts all day - this winter is the coldest for ages apparently yet I am handling it a lot lot better, just from using Aveeno and a chapstick for the lips...
