It's bloody rubbish waking up to find out it's looking like a hung parliment, what a bloody mess that'll be!

This is reminiscent of when America voted George Bush in for a second term.

We all asked how did that happen. Maybe the rest of the world will ask the same of us and how like a third world country some of or electorate where turned away from voting. :x :x

Maybe we needed Afghan monitors to keep an eye on us :x :x

I'm delighted to live in Carshalton http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/constituency/a92.stm
Shame the rest of the country didn't hold their nerve. I feared the Lib Dem support would evaporate, we (sweeping generalisation I mean human beings) are just not very good at doing what we say we will. Kinda feels like England bottled it a bit, and we'll end up with what we deserve, a mess. Next few days might be interesting....wonder how long Mr Brown can cling on for...? And will we get any kind of electoral reform?

I'm soooo tired.

Hung Parliament and the amnesty manifesto ruined it for the Libs I reckon

Mike will be disappointed - the Tooting Popular Front lost out again.

Shame they didn't break up the coverage with a decent film like in '83. Two hours of "Bullitt" while we awaited a second glorious victory by our best PM of the 20th century after Churchill made for a very pleasant start to the day.

Oh please, don't stir it up...

OK so the polling stations might need to rethink opening times but why did people leave it so late to vote???

My view exactly. If it's that important to people that they have to kick up a fuss when the stations close, why can't they get off their backsides and get down there early or vote by post.
Working for local government, it was some of my colleagues manning the stations and having to put up with this kind of rubbish from the general public.
Same old, lazy people kicking up a fuss and shifting the blame onto someone else. Pretty much the problem with this country as a whole!!!

Well not quite. Wolfie Smith did get a mention in Sadiq Khan's victory speech. :D

[In 'real' life of course Wolfie would have forgotten to register himself as a candidate and blamed his hapless sidekick Ken. But he'd be happy to see Fulham FC doing so well.]

I'm not convinced of that.
60+ years of (almost) uninterupted single party governments (usually elected on a minority of votes cast) haven't been particularly successful in driving the UK economy forward relative to our competitors. Let's look at the facts. Of the 17 most "successful" economies (measured by size (GDP per capita), and sustained growth), 12 have governments elected by proportional representation, and of those, 10 are almost always governed by coalitions.

I think a period of consensus government may actually be a good thing, and am hopeful that one of the outcomes will be a move to a more representative form of democracy.

End of politics bit. Can we get back to bikes and general sillyness now, please?
