First century. Yey!

Postby Dan_K » Mon May 24, 2010 5:12 pm

Did my first century on Friday in training for my trip to Paris.
Was a solo effort of 112 miles to the coast and back. Can't say if was overly enjoyable but I felt happy at the end.
Full, painful story on my blog.

Topped it off with the Pearson 150km sportive yesterday.....

Feeling suprisingly sprightly today! :D

Well done Dan, your first century ride is a landmark. interesting you point out you had a low point at about 70 miles, it often happens on your first century ride to hit a bit of a wall at 70-80 miles. Once passed you probably won't get it again on further ton rides as mentally you know what you can do now. Sounds like the training's coming along nicely  .

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

Snoop, I think i'll wait a while before I do a 100 TT!

Andrew, what you said about the mental barrier was quite interesting. I had wheels to follow for the Pearson 150 so it was easier but I had several times where I thought that 94 miles was nothing compared to what I'd achieved previously.

Dude - it's two months away, get a shift on and let me tell you - what a feeling it is to finish one of these. Mostly excruciating pain

Well done on your achievement
