It's a pity this has been dragged out for so long. I'm not condoning him . He's done wrong and deserves the ban but he's great rider and cycle racing will be the poorer without him. :(

IMO All Valverde's results since 2004 should be considered suspect and recinded.
And while they're at it, they should force riders implicated in puerto to provide DNA and test the rest of those blood bags....especially the 'AC' one.

Are we expecting any comments from those riders who finished behind him, or silence

[quote="marco"]Be interesting to see how great he is if he ever tries to race clean.

Give the man a break. He is racing clean and has been for some time.

If you doped in the past, I dont think you can ever be classed as a clean rider as I suspect you will have gained some permanent benefits from training and racing at a higher level while under the influence.

You're right and that goes for half the present day peloton. He's got to be one of the most tested riders in pro cycling. He has never tested positive for anything. it's pretty clear that it's his blood in blood bag 18 that contained EPO but did he ever use it? He deserves the ban. Let's move on.

Marcus: hair gel is not a PED.

PS Did I gather you went to Redhill Raiders on Sunday? My son is in a tent in a field so didn't go.

He's lucky he's got a tent. When I were a lad we had a carboard box and bin liner and thought ourselves lucky.

Are you quite sure of this, Marco? You don't think he'd raise a few eyebrows in the waiting room among the other patients?
