Channel 4 needs you - and your progeny

Hi All
My company, Class Films, has been commissioned by Channel 4 to make a couple of short 'films' about cycling. I'm ecstatic that we're managing to get some bikes on the box, albeit for three minutes at a time.

One of the films will feature a "celeb" cyclist commuting to work; another will be "adrenalin" inspired and for that I will later be asking for as many ACC-ers as poss to take part in some kind of Ben Hur type epic over-the-hill shot.

The last film is nostalgia based and for this we want to evoke memories of learning to ride a bike. So I am in need of a small child who is learning to cycle and hoping to take their stabilisers off around the mid to end of June. Does anyone know a child who fits the bill? They'll need to talk to camera and describe the experience so it should be someone outgoing who will welcome the chance to be a star for the day. We've got feelers out in other avenues - Bromley are having a "Take your stabilisers off" day during Bike Week! - but if there's a child of ACC out there, that'd be great. I'll be in touch re: filming the ACC adults soon!

These films will go out in that little slot after the C4 evening news, during the last week of the Tour de France.

if you want kids, go to hillingdon on a saturday morning, theres always kids there learning to ride with/without stabilisers... especially around that time of year theres loads of kids there with their parents.

adrenalin, if you want adrenalin, try some track racing!

Good idea about Hillingdon Jane - thanks for that.

I thought about track racing, but the problem is that it doesn't actually look that interesting - even though we know it's a big adrenalin rush, it's difficult to translate onto screen. So even though I found the world track championships riveting, I doubt that your average C4 viewer will.

Would mountain bikers be welcome for the "adrenalin" thing or is the subject precisely the Tour and road riding?

My daughter was 4 in April, and I think we'll be trying to get her off stabilisers soon, she was at the cycling weekly 'shoot' and seemed to enjoy that, Sylv took some piccies there if you want to see her in ACC gear !

Mountain biking isn't excluded at all Sylvain, the idea is to celebrate cycling in all its forms. I'll talk it over with the director (I'm just the pushy exec producer!).

Huw - I'm feeling like a useless father now, as I have yet to get my 4-year old daughter on a bike, with or without stabilisers! Any idea of a suitable bike to start her on? Most still seem to cater for 6 years and up, but why wait that long? Get 'em early!

Ninder - if she turns out to be a natural and is riding in 3 weeks, I'll let you know.

Anyone interested in a Rhode Gear child seat and rack for those not quite ready for stabilisers? Suit 6 months to 3 years (ish).
