Hackbridge road closure - 2 weeks!

Some of you might be interested to know that the bridge over the railway at Hackbridge will be closed for two weeks from 14 August  That should make it fun in and around Hackbridge. Pedestrian access will remain so if you're on your bike you'll be OK (ie walk).

In the great tradition of British workmanship the bridge was still open to all traffic at 7am this morning

Yep, I found it was open when I went to go across for the club run this morning...

but it was definitely closed when I came back - BIG hole in road now. Pedestrian route goes up the new side and then onto the old footbridge.

Is it me or is the new surface a bit higher and steeper than the old one (or is it just temporary)?

Don't know if it's been happening all the time the bridge has been closed - but anyone using the pedestrian access with their bike, be careful, some delightful souls keep breaking all the light bulbs and there's thin shards of glass everywhere.

The workmen do keep sweeping it up but they can't get every bit...
