Alternative rides - 15-17mph & 40-60 miles

Postby Amy » Sun Nov 21, 2010 5:56 pm

I'd like to do some slowish but steady rides with maybe some proper hills thrown in to some different destinations. As it's winter I'm not intending to go overly far. I hoping to be back early to mid afternoon.

I intend to start next next week (27 November) with a ride to Cobham*. Open to all comers but we will not be burning everybody off the back.

I've started pinpointing different places to stop - both cafes and pubs :D Pubs often have nice fires in them and even if they don't do cakes and light snacks I find a nice hot pudding and custard does the trick :D

*OK, that's Cobham NOT Chobham to those with a propensity to misread things (where is Btn Jane and Rotherham Steve?

Ok, maybe a little faster but no one's to be dropped (least of all me)

Why not come along and learn a new route and discover a new cafe or two

Do come along, Snoop! There may be a decent downhill or two, so I hope you will be able to enjoy them :D

I hope to extend these rides in length once the days start warming up and getting lighter.

May end up in the odd pub if only for food and warmth  There's nothing like a hot pud and a fire to sit beside on those days you need a thermajock or bra

I'm hoping that these can be developed into a diversity of rides for all groups in 2011  So please come along and find out where they are - suggest routes of your own and show people where they are!

Perhaps if someone could help Garmin some of my routes they could be put on the forum for reference - though I think nothing beats actually riding the route yourself.

Boo-hoo, can't make either of the next two weekends, Amy. But just to let you know I support your diversity (hmm) ride ideas, and hope to make one soon (preferably nearer the 40-mile area!)
