tubs

Has anyone any ideas how long a pair of tubs should last.
I got a pair last season (Conti Podiums), I think that I`ve probably done
less than 300 miles or so, I ususally warm up on the turbo for 20 minutes or so before an event. The rear tub looks a bit iffy to me.
Surely they should last longer thn that.

Tubs

Tubs are pretty resiliant and the limiting factor of their life is usually some fault other than the tread, ie sidewall, base tape, valve etc. I have raced constantly (time trials) for over 2 years now, don't measure miles, but it must be quite a lot.
Turbo training on the other hand will wreck them as the heat build up shreds the soft rubber compound.
Hope this helps

some tubs are more delicate than others. I definitely wouldnt use a tub on a turbo. I use a harder wearing tyre for on the turbo and swap for the road. Turbos ruin a good tyre after quite a short amount of time if you use a turbo for hard intervals. I wouldnt use tubs anywhere other than the track since lightweight clinchers with latex tubes are just as good or not far off for the road. ALthough you testers are a funny bunch and like to stick to traditional methods. If its not hard work its not worth doing......
