They'll be a few only out for the morning - me included. We could ride down to Turners Hill with a group and then head back home or just head for a cafe somewhere - I need to be back about midday as I've got the Queen* arriving at my place and she wishes me to escort her around a bit

Rob, you might like to get this moved to the Rides section.

* well, she looks like the Queen a bit

Rob, I'm not out as I'm racing but a nice route would be...
Chipstead Valley and then drop down Headley Rd rather than Box Hill, up Ranmore and then drop in to Dorking, round to Coldharbour and up that, then bear left and drop in to Otford and the A29. Turn right and go along the A29 and take the left down Weare Street, follow that through to the end, turn right to take you to the A24 and cross over that. That puts you at Capel and you can follow your way to Newdigate from there and then do what you want re a cafe stop and return run mixing in bits of the normal CR route and Box Hill return.

I won't be going to Brighton.

How about a variation on Marco's Wedensday morning route, calling in at Cake in Downe to have some, well, tea and cake?

That sounds good to me - just hope it doesn't pour heaven-hard the last time I went for a bike ride with you to Downe!!

Sold.

Where and at what time shall we meet?

Could I suggest 9am at East Croydon Railway Station?

Very nice ride with Grahame and Locky around lanes that I don't normally get on though I've been over most of them at least once before.

It felt like a spanking pace to me with Locky doing his usual off the front whenever the pace slackened slightly but I only really got dropped on the descent down through to Pratt's Bottom (sounds rather nasty to me but apparently the kindest village going - they've been feeding their one and only homeless man - hopefully he's been rehomed now). And no, I didn't touch the brakes at all. It's frustrating - I don't have the strength to push up the hills at the mo and then to have to work hard to stay on going downhill... Locky stuck like a burr to Grahame's back wheel :D

Back home in good time to shower and get the train to Sutton to be early hopefully - suspicions were confirmed by a phone call from my mum that she was already waiting for me at least half an hour before we'd said...
