Addiscombe Open 10 TT - help required

Postby Jon H » Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:35 am

I am promoting our open 10 mile time trial, which will be held on Saturday 3rd September starting at 2pm, and will be on the G10/42 course (Holmwood). HQ is Beare Green village hall.

I need volunteers to help on the day for the following jobs:

Pusher-off x2
Middle roundabout marshall x2
Turn marshall x2
Finish timekeeper's assistant x2
Canteen x2

Ta, Jon

Can do canteen and bring a cake or two.

Can ride from Charlwood to the start but means I'll be riding my touring bike with panniers on the club run :D

Beare Green? That's a new place for the HQ?

Thanks Amy.

North Holmwood village hall was already booked, so had to go to Beare Green as plan B. Not ideal as riders will have to ride on the course to get to and from the start/finish.

I'll be racing as usual Jon but if you don't get enough helpers then you can set me off first and I can help with the canteen if they can start getting the teas ready before I get there.

I like Beare Green Village Hall as an HQ, nice spot and the ride down to the start gives a nice warm up. As long as none of the later starters ride through the finish like their racing and make it clear for timekeepers it shouldn't be a problem. KP have used it for their end of season road bike 10.

As this is an Open TT you need to enter with a CTT entry form which is here -> click and send it with a cheque for £8 (made out to Addiscombe CC)to Jon before 23rd August.

On the form fill in your name, address, DOB, emergency contact, club etc.
In district put London South.
At "Please enter me for..." put "Addiscombe CC 10".
If you have ridden a 10 in the last 3 years then enter your time and the course you did it on (if a club 10 then the course would have been G10/42) in the bottom section, line 1 in section A.

I think I'm right in saying that the Pip Heathfield trophy is being awarded this year for the best handicap time by a club member in this race so come on Addiscombe-ites get those entries in to Jon. If you've ever ridden a club 10 and have a pb for a 10 mile TT this is the perfect chance to have a go at riding an Open with the chance of a nice bit of silverwear for you to win. The chance of one of us regular testers winning it is very slim as our PBs were set on faster courses so we stand little chance of winning the trophy as it's being based on handicap time.

So far I've got Carl, PVT, and Andrew G (post ride).

Still plenty of availability for people to volunteer. Don't be shy, I don't mind you all rushing at once.

Jon, would love to do this race and also help! So how would that work? :D

Also, can we sign up on the day or do we have to send you the forms/cheque in advance?

Thanks Mate,

John

Have to enter by CTT form and in advance, by Tuesday of week before event, as it's an Open not a club event. Needs to be in early to allow for field seeding, sending out start sheets, insurance etc.
